UwU~

is a lightweight, unrestricted, no-code game creation engine built around rooms, assets, hotspots, dialogue, inventory, variables, resources, combat and tactical/skirmish maps. It is fully capable of creating and exporting complete games to an html5 you can then publish and sell.

The design takes inspiration from late-90s homebrew, modding and hobbyist development: simple tools, reusable systems and very few assumptions about what kind of game you should make. Download it, experiment with it, misuse the systems and see what happens

The goal was to make an app that is flexible enough to create hundreds of different RPGs, and Point and Click adventures using the options built into the game and images of any kind, either AI generated or photos, or anything else like that.

FILE SIZE & INCLUDED TOOLS

UwU~ games are designed around compact web-friendly assets. JPG is recommended for finished images and MP3 for audio. A PNG-to-JPG compression tool is included; suitable images can often be reduced by around 80% while remaining perfectly usable for this kind of game.

A simple GIF creation tool is also included, so animated images are possible, but keeping assets small is strongly recommended. UwU~ is deliberately built around compression and modest file sizes rather than huge high-resolution asset libraries.

For audio, the included UwU~ Audio Master provides a fixed game-ready workflow: 44.1 kHz, mono, 128 kbps MP3, -16 LUFS, -1 dBTP, with gentle compression and loudness normalization. Mono and short loops are recommended mainly to reduce decoded memory use and keep total game size predictable, while the fixed mastering chain helps different music, voices, ambience and effects sit together at consistent levels.

These are practical defaults rather than hard rules. Stereo, quieter ambience, longer recordings or other deliberate exceptions can still be used whenever the sound design benefits from them.

Practical project limits

UwU~ compiles each game into a single self-contained HTML5 file, including the game data, media and runtime. There is no fixed room count or hard “world size” limit, but larger projects increase initial loading time and browser memory use. Demo Disc 01 currently exports at only ~28 MB, so there is substantial practical headroom; as a working target, builds around 100 MB should be very reasonable, while 150–200 MB is better treated as stress-test territory depending on the player's browser and device rather than a guaranteed engine limit.

Compressing artwork to JPG where appropriate and using MP3 audio greatly extends this runway. Short soundtrack loops of roughly one minute are also a useful design constraint, since audio is decoded into memory when played and very long or numerous tracks can eventually use more RAM than their compressed MP3 sizes suggest.

Extremely large maps, maximum first-person rendering settings, and large amounts of simultaneously active media are more likely to become performance limits before HTML itself does. If a world eventually outgrows a comfortable single build, the intended solution is simply to continue it in another UwU~ game rather than force everything into one enormous file.

For audio, 96–128 kbps MP3 is a sensible target for most music loops, that can be stored in mono, which not only reduces file size but also roughly halves their decoded audio memory compared with stereo

EXPORTING & CREATOR RIGHTS

Exported UwU~ games are contained inside a single HTML file. There are no required asset folders or complicated project structures to distribute alongside it: compile the game and the resulting HTML is the finished game.

Games you create with UwU~ are yours to publish, share and monetize, including commercial releases. You may not repackage or resell the UwU~ editor itself as your own product. The intention is simple: take the devkit, make weird things with it, and release them and build our UwU~ game community.

Feel free to post any projects you've made or selling to the discussion board I'd love to see what people come up with!

There is also a bundled Project files that I've included as an example of games I'm currently working on.
